With a portal, you can host many different types of content that you can use to build applications such as web maps, web scenes, hosted layers, and data services. It also supports hosting other types of content such as files, low-code/no-code applications, and Python notebooks.

OrganizationAn organization is a group of members who share access to a portal. Organizations can be public or private, and can be used to manage and share content and data. Organizations can be created in ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Location Platform.
An organization can consist of either a single user or multiple users. In ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, organizations support multiple users, also known as multi-user organizations. When a developer signs up for ArcGIS Location Platform, they are the only user in their organization.
