There are many Recreational, Sporting and Cultural Activities and Attractions to experience in Bermuda with the majority being in the fresh air amid azure ocean waters and scents of hibiscus, oleander and royal poinsiana. Bermuda's beauty is merely a backdrop to the history it has, with the Town of St. George being a World Heritage Site and the Royal Naval Dockyard once being the largest British Naval facility or fort outside of the United Kingdom.
The most popular of Bermuda's beaches are located along the western South Shore of the island with a couple of others at either end of the island. The South Shore beaches are known for being long stretches of soft, pink sand with ocean waves suitable for bodysurfing whereas other beaches are known for their exceptional snorkelling. There are 25 regularly visited beaches with at least another 6 private beaches at some of the Hotels and Resorts.

Many aspects of the Bermuda lifestyle are slow paced with transportation being no exception. The official speed limit is 20mph (35kph) and the unofficial speed limit is 30mph (50kph) with left side of the road driving. Due to the size of the island, car ownership is limited to 1 car per residential unit and no rental cars are permitted. The traditional and most popular mode of transport for visitors is moped rentals but the public transportation system (buses and ferries) is very good, with some ferry routes permitting mopeds onboard.
