El Arenosillo
As of the middle of the Sixties, Spain installed an atmospheric sounding station close to Mazagon, in the province of Huelva. The first sounding rocket launch from El Arenosillo occurred on 14 October 1966. A total of 557 sounding rockets were launched there until 1994, the majority in international collaboration. Currently, the surveys are carried out using ground equipment by a team of the INTA Remote Sensing and Aeronomy Department.
All the sounding rockets built in Spain (INTA 255, INTA 300 and INTA 100) were launched from El Arenosillo.
