Hurricane Irene has been and gone, leaving an absolute mess in her wake across New Jersey -- and a lot of water.
New Jersey's rivers continue to produce historic flooding statewide this morning, and the true impact of Irene may not be known for days.
While the amount of rainfall New Jersey received is only part of the story in that flooding, most places in the state received more than five inches of rain, according to unofficial totals from the CoCoRaHS Network.
Freehold was the big winner for Irene, pulling in a whopping 11.27 inches. Jefferson and Wayne weren't far behind, receiving 10.54 and 10 inches during the storm, respectively.
All told, 30 different CoCoRaHS reporting stations in New Jersey recorded eight inches or more during Hurricane Irene, and state climatologist David Robinson said it will easily rank as one of the top five statewide rainfall events in state history.
