Apache Won't Override Do-Not-Track Headers 10/10/2012

Apache's software for publishers will no longer override Microsoft's do-not-track headers, researcher Jonathan Mayer reported on Twitter this week. It is used by around 60% of publishers.

The latest version of the software contains code that effectively negates a "patch" written this summer by Apache developer Roy Fielding. His patch nullified do-not-track headers sent by Internet Explorer 10. Fielding indicated that he created the patch because he disapproved of Microsoft's controversial decision to enable do-not-track by default in the upcoming IE10.
