Cricopharyngeus: continuous with muscle of opposite side, behind pharynx. Thyropharyngeus : lower pharyngeal raphe ACTION
Aids swallowing . Cricopharyngeus acts as upper esophageal sphincter NERVE
Pharyngeal plexus (IX, X and sympathetic) via pharyngeal branch of X with its motor fibers from cranial accessory (XI)
