Disclaimer

• This is my info list which I've accumulated over a few decades of collecting. Is it complete? No. However, it is quite extensive, and probably actually covers over 95% of every single character seen in the MU.
• The primary purpose of sharing this info is to let everyone know what characters are out there...for the purpose of clarifications, and for generating interest in doing profiles.
• This list incorporates all Earth-616 characters, the New Universe, the Ultraverse, most of the Amalgam stuff, and most characters with some connection to the Marvel Universe who have appeared anywhere in the MU since Fantastic Four I#1, @ 1961.
• Thanks to long time assistant, editor, contributor, and friend Michael Hoskin, Prime Eternal, for making a few additions to almost every page on the list.
• Individual entries in blue are derived from Chad "Chadman" Anderson's notes, while entries in red are from Marc Riemer, Grendel Prime.

Known Deficiencies

• Swords and Sorcery (Conan, Kull, etc)-I only started adding these a few years ago, and I have only a small amount of the 600-700 issues indexed. As my indexes progress, so will this list
• Westerns-ditto. I have none of these indexed, and so, for the most part, only the costumed characters are listed. I hope to fill this out eventually, but it's low on the list of priorities. In addition, my collection of these is quite FAR from complete, and some of the earlier issues dip into the 1950s--as well as stretching back to the Golden Age.
• War-I have a pretty complete collection (I'm missing Sgt. Fury#1 and 2, but have reprints of both), but they're not indexed.
• "Non-Continuity"-I have tons of Epic Illustrated, Marvel Previews/Bizarre Adventures, and the Epic line of comics, but most that haven't been at least somehow connected to the MU are not indexed.
  --I also leave out alternate dimensional counterparts that lack MAJOR differences from the original, or that do not have a large number of appearances.
  --Specifically/Deliberately not included will be groups/sub-universes that I have minimal knowledge of (and appearances of), are licensed by others, etc.
  --So, sorry folks, no GI Joe or Transformers only characters here. If you want to see them, go buy your own website!
  --I'm also not doing much with stuff from the Ultimate Line, or from the non-continuity MAX titles, or from (shudder) Earth X. There are a few, though.
• Golden Age - for the most part, I've only included those who have been shown in Marvel Comics, but I would like to add in the rest at some point.
• Supporting Cast - character's with less than 3 appearances often missed my initial cut-off, so they only get added now as I encounter them again.

Order of entries

For the most part, it's alphabetical, but there are a few breakdowns.
I'm not good at following the rules with hyphens, compound words, etc., so for the most part (but not always), characters will be listed in the order of their letters, regardless of whether there is a space, hyphen, etc.
For example, I would list Madrox BEFORE the Mad Thinker. Get it?
Sorry if my system is confusing, but it's what works for me.

I have made a great effort to eliminate all evidence of Roman Numerals to identify characters to avoid the inherent confusion (and the deluge of annoying questions or "corrections") because no one's classification system will be the same as everyone else's.
In general, I list characters in chronological order in which they appeared, but characters who may have some other clarifier after their name (such as the Dragon Lord of Krakinowa) will be listed after other Dragon Lords without such clarifiers, or in alphabetical order with other Dragon Lords who DO have clarifiers.

I'll continue to remove the Roman Numbers as I find them.

1. ABOMINATION--character name/codename.

• This should be self-explanatory, but it is the alias to which the entry refers. If the character does not have a code name, or he/she/it/they often go by their real name, it will be listed here.
• Characters for whom only a last name is known will be listed as: NAME,
• Characters for whom only the first name is known will be listed as: NAME ??
• If the name is underlined, that means the character has had already had a profile of some sort. The source(s) of the profile are listed later in the entry, as described under #6
• If the character's name is in bold, it means I don't own his/her/its first appearance.
• If the character's name is in italics, it means the character has not been made part of canon/continuity.
  This applies to Golden Age only, Horror only, non-continuity stories.
• Other aliases are listed elsewhere in the entry, as described under #5.
• If the majority of the info is listed under another alias, a "see NAME" may be listed.

2. (Emil Blonsky)

• Solo Entries--character's real name. again, self explanatory. If it is unknown, there may be empty parantheses.
  If the character's real name is the title of the entry (shown in #1), then this part of the entry may be skipped.
• Group Entries--the known membership is listed. In most cases, it's alphabetical, but in other instances it is in historical order, or it's just not organized well. sorry.

3. History/Affiliations--this is a somewhat disorganized jumble of information. In some cases it is quite extensive, and in other cases it is almost empty. More recently, as I began doing the Appendix, I may have chosen not to add in info it is already contained in their full profiles. This information should end with a "."

4. Powers/Abilities--self explanatory

5. Aliases-it follows the powers section, and it preceded by a "-"

6. Profile sources/references.

• Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe (OHotMU) entries are listed first. These may be under I (first edition), D (deluxe edition), U (update'89), M (master edition),
  -----and/or also ME (Marvel Encyclopedia), ME:X (ME: X-Men), ME: H (Hulk), ME:Sp (Spider-Man)
• Internet profiles are next. Those at the Appendix are noted by either "app" or "jsc" (I'm trying to convert all of these to "app")
  Those with profiles at other websites are noted by "net" (If/when I get this whole list done, I may directly reference other sites, such as Spider-Fan)
• Sub-profiles are USUALLY noted by a hyphen after the primary note, with a few letters to reference the main entry
  for example, Henry Ackerdson is listed as U-dc, indicating he has a profile in Update'89 under Damage Control. Usually the character's entry should make this self explanatory.

7. In some cases, a *D* may be listed at this point, indicating that the character is currently deceased.
    *D/R* may indicated a character that was deceased and has been resurrected in some fashion (a vampire, for example)
    *D/R/D*--this is primarily for vampires and the like, but it means -Deceased-Resurrected-Destroyed-

8. Appearances
--First Appearance (Chronogical listing of appearances

• If a (g) precedes the dash, it indicates Golden Age appearance(s)
• Some of the issue abbreviations may be confusing, but the main purpose is not to provide a full chronology. Eventually, I may compile a key.
  In addition, the more appearances a character has had, the less likely the list is to be complete. I've supplemented my own stuff with the info from the Marvel Chronology Project, but there will always be a few ommissions. If chronology is what you're looking for, check out the MCP.
• In some cases, a member of a group's chronology may be incomplete. These should be cross-referenced with the group in which that character is a member.
• [ ]-BTS
• issues listed within parentheses take place within the issue preceding them
  ex. Hlk An15(fb(SecWarII#7))--The events in Secret Wars II#7 take place during the events in the flashback of Hulk Annual#15
• An issue number followed by a "d" should mean that the character died in that issue
• An issue followed by a (d) means that the character's already dead form was seen
• There may also be a (g) for ghost or a (c), indicating that the character was comatose, or the equivalent.

    Amz388/2(Web18,24),Amz299,300...   In Web#18, he is unseen, but pushes Spidey in front of that Subway, that's his first appearance.
  AmzSp299 is Venom's first full appearance.   After the parentheses it's pure chronological order.

  As this page is old, it will be updated by the time I post it, but there's Untold Spdm#4 (Brock), more of his back history in Uncanny Origins#7.   Spectacular Spider-Man #108(one of these issues) is Brock's first Behind the Scenes appearance (that's when he broke Gregg's "I am the Sin-Eater" story. I don't think he's seen there. His subsequent history is fleshed out in those annuals, and the Web18+24 stories take place within the story of AmzSpm388/2. And then AmzSpdm#299 is when his big grin scares the poo-poo out of MJ.

  Lastly, since there's an asterisk after Brock's name in the entry, he also has an entry under Brock.

9. Other
Bulleting

• --indicates that the character as an alternate dimensional counterpart of another character--almost always refers to the character above the bulleting

• --indicates that the character/item is in reference to the entry above the bulleting
  For example, Dr. Octopus' arms would be listed under his entry.
  Characters or groups without formal names may also be listed, such as Dr. Octopus' henchmen...or an unnamed relative, etc.
