PERSONAL DATA:� Born May 24, 1972, in Chelyabinsk.� Married to Suraeva (nee Khorokhordina) Anna Alexandrovna.� They have two daughters, Arina and Ksenia.� Hobbies include SCUBA diving, fishing, sports and reading.

EDUCATION:� In 1994, he graduated with honors from the Kachin Air Force Pilot School as pilot-engineer; graduated with honors from the Zhukovski Air Force Academy in 1997 as pilot-engineer-researcher; received a law degree from the Russian Academy of Civil Service in 2007.

EXPERIENCE:� Suraev is qualified to fly L-39 and Su-27 aircraft, and has logged around 700 hours of flight time.� Suraev is a Class 3 Air Force pilot, a qualified diver and paraborne instructor.

From December 1997 to November 1999, Suraev completed basic space training and was qualified as a test-cosmonaut.� He began ISS advanced training in January 2000.

Starting January 2000 he was in ISS advanced training.� Suraev was GCTC's Director of Operations-Houston at Johnson Space Center from 2001 until 2002.� From March 2006 until April 2008 he was assigned as a backup ISS 17 crewmember.� From April 2008 until March 2009 he was a member of the ISS 19/20 backup crew.

Suraev launched on September 30, 2009 as the commander of Soyuz TMA-16.� As a flight engineer on the ISS Expeditions 21 and 22 crews, he completed the integration of the new MRM-2 module into the Russian Segment and performed an EVA of 5 hours and 44 minutes duration.� The Soyuz TMA-16 crew landed in Kazakhstan on March 18, 2010.� Suraev has logged more than 169 days in space.

Suraev �has been assigned to the Expedition 36 crew as a flight engineer and is scheduled to fly to the ISS aboard Soyuz 35 in late May 2013.� He will then assume command of Expedition 37 with the undocking of Soyuz 34 in September 2013.
