Monitor status indicators | Mozilla Monitor Help

Monitor Plus allows you to see the progression of data removal through different statuses designed to provide users with a clear insight into the removal process that happens behind the scenes.

These indicators are part of Mozilla's commitment to ensure users have a clear understanding of the status of their personal data removal requests. By keeping users informed at every step, Mozilla Monitor Plus aims to provide peace of mind and a more controlled privacy management experience.

What does my status indicators mean?

Note: The “*” denotes when a feature is only available for Monitor Plus subscribers.

  1. Requested removal*: This means that a request to remove your data has been submitted. This status will display the number of attempts made to remove your data.
  2. In progress*: This means that our automated removal process is underway.
  3. Removed*: This means that we have successfully removed your personal information from the site selling it.
  4. Fixed: You have taken the necessary steps to complete the removal of your information. The exposure is now resolved and there’s no action for you to take.
  5. Action needed: Advance or manual action is needed to complete the removal of your information.
Why would action be needed if I am a Monitor Plus subscriber?

Some brokers require data ownership verification before they will complete removal. As a result, Monitor’s automated removal systems won’t be able to complete the process. In this scenario, steps are provided to help you complete the verification and finalize the removal request.

Monitor Plus continuously protects you by performing a monthly scan for exposures of personal information to remove anything we find. To learn more about your monthly scan you can read our Monthly Monitor Report Email article.
