User ReviewsWhat a great editor. I don't understand why it is not more in widespread use. I like it as much as emacs or vi. And writing your own macros is easy and very powerful ; it's much easier than in emacs !

I use jEdit all the time, but version 5.6.0 is very unstable in Windows (try open some ten documents, search for a common word, and then try view the results in each file, my 5.6 program crashed on that). I replaced it by version jEdit 5.5 and that works so far as it always did. Great programmer editor if you know RegExp! --- --- --- P.S. Stick to the default Metal look and feel, and no "experimental features" (strangely enough in 5.5 you can't copy paste in the search field with other look and feels).
Thank you very much for the free open source program!
Very extensible, and perfect for developers.
