The 366th served with distinction in World War I and II. It faced combat in World War II in Italy with the 92nd Infantry Division. The unit was notable in that, unlike other segregated units, the officers were not white. While many of the members were African American, individuals with dark skin from other ethnicities were also placed with the 366th.
