Standard module Bastion helps address this need -- wrapping an object so that only a subset of its attributes is available. It's a security thing -- as the docs say, "It must always be used with the rexec module, in order to allow restricted-mode programs access to certain safe attributes of an object, while denying access to other, unsafe attributes".
