Not to worry; I've been found.  (And not in Texas, as it happens.)

Comcast has a helpful feature where they save any spam you get, and count it 
against you.  I think I've fixed the settings so they won't continue pushing 
that mis-feature on me.   :-/

I appear to be receiving my Python lists just fine again.
