python.org/sf/1515343 fixes a regression against 2.4, which masks exceptions, and should therefore go in before release. The tracker has a patch to the test cases, and two alternative fixes. (One minimal, the other less ugly.) Since this only affects string exceptions with a value, it might be acceptable to just say "won't ever fix", but then it should be added to the upgrade news. -jJ
