Perhaps.  I should try running under -E, I guess.  But I don't think so.

I don't think so -- I fixed a big bundle of leaks in my
assigning-to-__bases__ code just a few days ago.

I'll try and dig myself, but it's too bloody hot to think here at the
moment...
