d.update(x) returns None. I would expect d.sequpdate() to do the same.

A classmethods would be a nice solution here:

  >>> dict.fromseq('End Quit Stop Abort'.split())
  {'End': True, 'Quit': True, 'Stop': True, 'Abort': True}
  >>>

Classmethods rule as alternative constructors.
