[Python-Dev] Problems installing Python

I just installed Python, and got messages something like "network not configured", so it wouldn't built certain modules (https, etc). What causes this?

We got this message when we typed:   make test
I haven't got the time to go through more then 2500 mails from this list in the past 3 weeks to see if anyone else reported this problem.

Can someone shed some light on this?
