you know, just having taken another look at doctest
and the unit test options, I'm tempted to agree.

except for the "if sufficient" part, that is -- given that
you can easily run doctest on a test harness instead of
the original module, it's *always* sufficient.

(cannot allow tim to be 100% correct every time ;-)
