Guido also posted to comp.lang.python. You probably haven't seen the latter if you use the mailing list gateway, because many mailing lists at python.org coincidentally got hosed at the same time due to a full disk. Else your news server simply hasn't gotten it yet (I saw it come across on netnews.msn.com, but then Microsoft customers get everything first <wink>).
